Indeed the nomination form for the 2026 OEAwards opened today, and even before we published the announcement story, we have received our first (of many) nominations.
I fully accept laying it on thickly with the seed planting metaphor (it is currently garden prep season where I live now) which we incorporated last year from the many sayings that “[everything begins with a seed](https://www.google.com/search?q=everything+starts+by+planting+a+seed)”
I did resist the temptation to apply another saying spotted in [a blog post by Mags Amond](https://magsamondposts.wordpress.com/2026/05/07/blog-post-as-acorn/) that “every oak tree was a little acorn once” - my searching indicates this is a paraphrasing of Geoffrey Chaucer’s 14th century line "Mighty oaks from little acorns grow”.
Please feel free to pile on more gardening metaphors, but better yet, get ready to plant your own seeds of recognition through the 2026 Open Education Awards for Excellence, start here
