Calling all film lovers! If you’re with us in person during the conference, have some extra fun during your time here and go on a **Good Will Hunting Selfie Scavenger Hunt**. This scavenger hunt focuses on the movie’s footprint across the MIT campus and the surrounding Cambridge area. No riddles or decoding required – just point, click, and share the movie magic with your OEGlobal friends around the world! 🎥 🍿 🎟

## **On the MIT Campus**

**MIT Building 10 (The McLaurin Building/Great Dome)** This iconic exterior stands in for the university building where Will Hunting works his night shifts as a janitor.

**Selfie Challenge:** Snap a photo with the grand columns of **Building 10** or the **Great Dome** towering behind you.

**MIT Hallway Chalkboards (Building 10, Corridor Floors)** While the exact classroom interiors were largely shot on soundstages, the long, imposing infinite corridors of the **McLaurin Building** inspired the hallways where Professor Lambeau left his “unsolvable” math problems on the chalkboard for Will to secretly crack.

**Selfie Challenge:** Find a hallway chalkboard inside **Building 10** (like near Room 10-250) and take a selfie pretending to solve a complex formula.

**The Kendall/MIT T Station** This is the MBTA Red Line subway stop Will rides when commuting from his home in South Boston out to his job at MIT.

**Selfie Challenge:** Grab a photo next to the **Kendall/MIT** station signage before heading up to street level.

## **Around Cambridge & Harvard Square**

**The “How Do You Like Them Apples?” Corner (1230 Massachusetts Ave)** This is the holy grail of Cambridge movie locations. 1230 Mass Ave (formerly the Bow and Arrow Pub / Grafton Street Pub) is the spot where Will completely shuts down an arrogant, pony-tailed Harvard graduate student. He later slams his phone number against the window of the shop next door to deliver his legendary line.

**Selfie Challenge:** Stand outside on the sidewalk of **1230 Massachusetts Ave** and take a selfie holding up an apple (or an image of one on your phone).

**The Dunster House Courtyard (Harvard University)** Located just a short walk down from Harvard Square toward the river, **Dunster House** served as the exterior and location for Skylar’s (Minnie Driver) dorm room.

**Selfie Challenge:** Take a photo outside the gates or red-brick courtyard of **Dunster House** along Memorial Drive.

**The Former Au Bon Pain/Harvard Smith Campus Center (1350 Massachusetts Ave)** This busy plaza area was the setting for the outdoor cafe terrace where Will tries to explain his photographic memory and mathematical gift to Skylar over coffee. The old cafe structure has been heavily remodeled into Harvard’s Smith Campus Center, but the location remains the same.

**Selfie Challenge:** Take a photo outside the modern glass facade of the **Smith Campus Center** while holding a coffee cup.

## **Bonus Destination**

If you are up for crossing the river into Boston proper, you can cap off your hunt at the **Boston Public Garden**. Walk to the lawn just north of the George Washington Statue to find the **Robin Williams Bench** —the spot where Sean Maguire gives Will his unforgettable monologue about life, love, and loss.

How fun is this?! Thanks @sehansen as Good Will Hunting is close to this other human’s all time favorite movies. Let’s see some selfies! And if anyone is willing to also share just a photo of the scene to share (like the chalkboard) it could create an activity for online participants to edit themselves in as a selfie-wish.

Yes, especially would like to see the chalkboard in the hallway.

One frame from [YouTube video Good Will Hunting (1997) - Will Solves Math Challenge (Matt Damon)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ViPmcdlfbQ)

And for interest, the math on the board is real: [How an MIT Professor Helped Good Will Hunting Get the Math Right—and Landed a Tiny Role in the Film](https://alum.mit.edu/slice/how-mit-professor-helped-good-will-hunting-get-math-right-and-landed-tiny-role-film).

I’d also be so happy to see the bench from Robin Williams / Matt Damon scene of just some amazing dialogue.

Yes, we hope people on site can have fun sharing hunting Good Will Hunting.

Alas no takers on this one. If I were on site I’d definitely chase down these locations!
