Hola Marcela, Alan and everyone from all over the world!
I will be joining online from Rocha, Uruguay. This is my third OEGlobal conference
The first one was in person from beautiful Milan, I had the great opportunity (and funding ) to travel with my dear friend and colleague Virginia.
I hope to have time to see, connect and exchange about the important topics that support this conference, the open Education and the Open Movement!
Hi everyone! I’m Megan Zara, joining online from Fort Worth, Texas.
I’ve worked in open education for several years across K–12 and higher education, most recently as an open education librarian. These days, I’m entering a new chapter as the founder of The Open Practice Academy and as a PhD student in Leadership and Change at Antioch University.
A question sitting at the center of both my research and my practice right now is: What happens when we understand openness not primarily as a set of resources, licenses, or practices, but as a relational practice?
I’m increasingly interested in the human infrastructure of openness: care, trust, participation, reciprocity, power, belonging, and the conditions that allow people to actually practice the values we so often say openness represents. I’m also thinking a lot about leadership, institutional systems, and what it takes to move from valuing openness to actually building structures that make it possible.
That’s a big part of what I’m excited to explore at OEGlobal this year, especially alongside conversations about emerging technologies and what knowledge as a public good asks of us now.
I’ll also be presenting online, so I’m excited to contribute something of my own while learning from everyone else.
I’m especially happy that there’s an online space for connection. Some unexpected life circumstances changed my plans to be in Cambridge, so I’m very grateful to still be able to participate from home.
I’d love to meet others thinking about openness through relational, leadership, care, or systems lenses, or anyone wrestling with the gap between the values of open education and how those values actually get lived in institutions.
Looking forward to learning and inventing with you all.
Welcome to the online community space, Megan, and we are thrilled that you are able to present online.
Your message amd presentation fit so well with the conference theme “Catalyzing Human Connection Creativity and Curiosity to Thrive.” I encourage attendees to take a look at Megan’s presentation (I admit I love a talk with a metaphor in the title) The Work at the Hinge: Mini Structures and Human-Centered Open Education
Megan, we invite you to create a new topic for your presentation in the Sessions Conversation area so you can entice more people to attend and house conversations there around your talk.
Thank you so much! This is such a generous welcome, and I really appreciate you making the connection between my work and the conference theme. Human connection, creativity, and curiosity are very much at the heart of what I’ve been thinking about lately, so I’m especially excited to be part of these conversations.
And thank you for sharing both my session and The Open Practice Academy! I’m a little partial to a good metaphor myself, and “the hinge” has become one I keep finding my way back to as I think about the often-small structures that help us move from values into practice.
I’ll absolutely create a topic in the Sessions Conversation area. I’d love for the session to become more than the presentation itself and give us a place to keep thinking together about what this kind of “hinge work” looks like across different contexts.
Really glad to be here, even if I’m joining differently than I originally planned. Looking forward to the conversations!
Hi everyone! I’m excited to attend OE Global 2026! I’m coming into Cambridge today from western Massachusetts. I’m very thrilled to be so close and I’m really looking forward to the conference and connecting with many old and new friends!
Hi everyone! I’m Laura Henderson, Head of Frontiers for Young Minds (https://kids.frontiersin.org/). I’m really looking forward to speaking at OEG this week - I will be joining to give a talk virtually on Thursday 8th, as I’m based in Lausanne, Switzerland and sadly could not travel for the event.
I am sending a photo of my view here in the Lausanne office of the Frontiers Research Foundation. Not too shabby - but I hope to come to Cambridge Mass., someday soon!
I’m Clara Bassil, joining online from Jbeil, Lebanon. I’m the founder and developer of CSBMatrix AI, an adaptive mathematics learning platform, and the author of Mathematics for Peace, a curriculum linking mathematical reasoning with humanitarian action.
I’m looking forward to the sessions on open content, AI in education and sustainability, and to meeting people working in these areas. Happy to connect.
My name is Veronica Juarez, and I’m excited to be part of this conference and connect with so many wonderful people who share a passion for open education. I’m joining you from Laredo College in Texas, where I work in eLearning and instructional design and also teach Child Development.
I’m especially looking forward to learning from others, sharing ideas, and hearing about the ways OER is making a difference for students and educators. Whether you are joining us in person or virtually, I’m happy to be here with you!
It’s wonderful to have an opportunity to come together, learn from one another, and support the work we are all doing to make education more accessible and affordable.
I’m Nichole Saad, currently Director of Education Grants at the National Geographic Society and previously Senior Manager for Education at the Wikimedia Foundation and a short time independent consultant for open education. Very much looking forward to tapping back into the open space, learning from you all, and thinking about supporting Explorers to engage with open education!
Edit to add: I’m attending online from Washington DC
