My work and life space is as a guest in Treaty 4 territory, original lands of the Cree, Saulteaux, Dakota, Nakoda and Lakota, and the homeland of Métis Nation. I love, respect, and care for these lands, embracing fully the idea of ᐊᐧᐦᑯᐦᑐᐃᐧᐣ wahkohtowin in everything being interconnected.
I am part of the OEGlobal team with a fancy title of Director of Innovation and Community. That means being doing everything I can to get people involved with and interested in the programs we do
In that role I produce the OEG Voices podcast, OEG Live webcasts, and spend a lot of time here in OEG Connect hoping to create a dynamic and welcoming space for open education advocates and practitioners around the world. I also co-coordinate the OE Awards for Excellence and Open Education Week.
My path here goes back to being an early 1990s builder of the web and instructional technologist at the Maricopa Community Colleges (1992-2006) and the New Media Consortium (2006-2011). As a blogging advocate, I “bark” about web storytelling, digital photography, bending WordPress to my whims, and exploring the serendipity of the infinite internet river at CogDogBlog. I have been using and sharing openly since before there were things such as open content licenses and is often encouraging the use of open licensed media and the importance of always attributing one’s sources (whether a license requires it or not). Since 200 have shared more than 70000 photos in flickr nearly all put into the public domain using Creative Commons CC0 (please ask my why).
I just love the web, especially since 1993 when a colleague named Jim Walters at Phoenix College handed my a floppy disk (my age is showing) labeled “Mosaic” and just said, try this.
