I am an MD and PhD in Public Administration with over 15 years’ experience working in the international education sector. In 2015 with colleagues from Guatemala, Nicaragua and the US I founded Online Learning Initiative, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit aiming to improve learning by closing the gaps between a well-designed competence-based curriculum, educational planning, educational resources, and teaching practices. Our flagship initiative is cnbGuatemala.org, a wiki-based version of the Guatemalan National Basic Curriculum, currently serving over 230,000 users each month with the curriculum, aligned open educational resources and teacher professional development tools.
