GinoFransman

Gino Fransman is project leader of the Open Education Influencers (https://openedinfluencers.mandela.ac.za), and an Academic Developer at Nelson Mandela University in South Africa. In 2022, he is Africa Hub Coordinator for Open Education for a Better World. In 2021, he was a mentor to Earl Mentor on the course: Peacebuilding in High-Risk Communities in South Africa. As a project author in the UNESCO Open Education for a Better World Programme, his open online course for student empowerment and advocacy is titled Becoming an Open Education Influencer (BOEI). BOEI is now freely available for all to use, remix, revise or even remake. He is a member of the OE4BW Advisory Board as well as a mentor to a project author for the course: Peacebuilding in High-Risk Communities in SA. He has previous teaching, programme and management experience at the University of the Western Cape and the University of South Africa. Gino’s Master’s research explored youth experiences of and in the new South Africa, in particular negotiations of identity and cultural stereotypes through engagements with performance. He enthusiastically explores and engages the potential of Open Education Resources (OER) for enhancing teaching and learning in education and professional development, and strongly advocates Open for the benefit of students, staff and communities.
