Please find attached a call for chapters for a collection on open educational resources and localization in higher education co-edited by Prof. Lynne Bowker whom I’ve had the pleasure of helping with her own OER projects. The collection will be published in 2026 by the Commonwealth of Learning.
Among the suggested topics:
-Translation and adaptation practices for OER
-Cultural relevance and inclusion in localised OER
-Decolonising the curriculum through localised OER
-Technological tools supporting localisation of OER
-Policy perspectives on OER localisation in higher education
The call is open until August 15, 2025.

I would like to express my interest in contributing a chapter to the forthcoming volume on Localisation of Open Educational Resources in Higher Education, co-edited by Prof. Lynne Bowker and Prof. Jako Olivier.
My proposed chapter focuses on community-led localisation efforts of OER in Sudan, particularly in response to the current crisis affecting higher education. It highlights how educators and learners in conflict-affected regions are engaging with open resources to sustain learning and preserve cultural identity.
I’m currently finalizing my abstract and will submit the full proposal to Prof. Olivier shortly.
