Dear all,
While we finalise the upload of all the materials collected during workshop #12 on Open Education and Open Science, we are delighted to invite you to the thirteenth event in our ENOEL Workshop series, organised by SPARC Europe and the European Network of Open Education Librarians (ENOEL), on 13 Nov 2025 at 1:00-2.30 p.m. 2025 CET. The workshop topic is โOpen Education and Generative AI - Use cases from the fieldโ.
Our workshop facilitators are:
-
Marta Bustillo (University College Dublin, Ireland)
-
Sylvia Moes (SURF, Netherlands)
We have the pleasure of having as our guests:
-
Sandra Dunkin (University College Dublin, Ireland)
-
Linda LeGrand (SURF, Netherlands)
What to Expect:
During the workshop, you will learn about using domain-specific taxonomies to train LLMs, explore the possibilities of open Generative AI tools for creating prompts that can be reused in a domain-specific area to support collaboration in developing interactive learning, and learn how Model Control Protocols (MCPs) can work to search for learning outcomes on platforms with Open Educational Resources.
You will also explore open Generative AI tools for search purposes and learn about practical OE approaches to developing AI literacy supports
With other participants, you will further reflect on ways in which GenAI can contribute to your open educational practices as a librarian and have a discussion about it. Lastly, you will be encouraged to share open GenAI tools and AI literacy resources created in your own institution. Donโt miss this chance to explore Open Education Librarianship and GenAI with other international librarians and open education experts!
At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
-
Understand the use of domain-specific taxonomies to train LLMs.
-
Identify relevant open GenAI tools to collaborate on creating interactive learning.
-
Understand how a Model Control Protocol (MCP) can help you search through platforms with open educational resources based on learning outcomes and integrate available taxonomies that your institution doesnโt yet cover.
-
Apply practical open education approaches to developing AI literacy supports
-
Identify GenAI tools to help users search through third-party platforms.
-
Reflect on ways in which GenAI can contribute to open educational practices in your role as a librarian.
