OE Cafè #13 Linking research outputs to OER: building bridges between scholarship and open education

Dear all, we are pleased to invite you to the thirteenth episode in our Pass the OE Expert Baton series of OE Cafés, organised by SPARC Europe and the European Network of Open Education Librarians (ENOEL), together with IFLA’s Library Publishing Section on Friday, 23 October 2026, 5-6 pm CEST, during OA week 2026.

The title of the event is “Linking research outputs to OER: building bridges between scholarship and open education”.

How can we better support linking research outputs to OER? In this session, guests from Europe and Africa bring diverse perspectives, sharing real-world insights, lessons learned, and practical approaches to transform research results into valuable open educational resources. Drawing on field experience, the discussion will highlight what works, key challenges, and the role institutions, practitioners (with a particular focus on librarians), and communities can play. This is a chunk of text to describe the event that was copied from the original announcement.

We will sit with:

  • Gráinne Carroll, Lecturer, Department of Business and Psychology; Lecturer, Department of Technology and Psychology; Psychology Department at Institute of Art, Design + Technology, Ireland
  • James Lappeman, Associate Professor and Head of Section of Marketing Studies at the University of Cape Town, South Africa
  • Julia Priess-Buchheit, (Prof. Dr. phil.), expert in teaching and learning in the fields of Open Science, (good) scientific practice, and research ethics at Kiel University, Germany.

The discussion will be facilitated by Jane Buggle, Chair of the Library Publishing Section at IFLA (Ireland), and Paola Corti, SPARC Europe (Italy).
