While a radio station cannot “play” images, one can find vintage and modern posters that suggest the radio format. This came to my mind from the cover image of Dan Cohen’s Human Ingenuity newsletter (recommended) issue on Synths and Sensibility
There’s a wireless station down in my heart from Dome at MIT Libraries placed into the public domain as per a No Copyright United States rights statement
I really like that vintage style! And rather than doing what most people seem to be doing for image creation these days, I remixed it myself in my graphics editing software, to make my own poster for Conference of the Air:
Remix by Alan Levine, also placed into the public doman of There’s a wireless station down in my heart by James Monaco from Dome at MIT Libraries placed into the public domain as per a No Copyright United States rights statement
This is the kind of media activities we did back in the days of the DS106 course that spawned the DS106 radio station.
If anyone is interested, I’d love to see more creative remixes as posters for the radio station, no matter how you make them, as long as they are open licensed.
Or, If you just want to share any interesting vintage photos / art of radio, explore public domain radio images in the flickr commons or what the Internet Archive contains for images of radio.
Find, share, or create radio art anyone?
