In an inspiring move toward digital inclusion, Google, Goodwill Industries International, and Coursera have partnered to offer Google’s AI Essentials course at no cost to 200,000 learners across North America. This initiative aims to equip individuals — especially job seekers and career changers — with essential AI literacy skills to thrive in an evolving digital economy.

:bullseye: What the Course Covers

The Google AI Essentials program is designed for beginners, requiring no prior technical background. Or experience offers practical, hands-on lessons on how to:

Use AI tools to develop ideas, generate content, and accelerate daily tasks.

Write clear and specific prompts to get accurate results from AI systems.

Understand and identify AI bias, ensuring ethical and responsible use.

Develop strategies to stay current in the fast-changing AI landscape.

Learners who complete the program earn a Google certificate via Coursera, which can be added to résumés and LinkedIn profiles — demonstrating readiness for AI-integrated roles.

Links don’t seem to work. Is the course just “free” or “open”? Does it focus on using Google proprietary environments and tools?

One step ahead of me, Tel. I found a Goodwill press release with a signup form but have to agree with your question of free vs open.
