Look Out At The Lush Landscape of the Wikimedia Commons POTD (Picture of the Day)

I do love photographs and the sharing there of, and I cannot count the many different ways I adore the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Day.

Just look at today’s POTD:

Wikimedia Commons Photo by Rhododendrites licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International license.

These are images selected for display on the Main Page as the Picture of the day. Publishing them on this page allows users to translate the captions into other languages.

Pictures of the day will be chosen from Featured pictures of Commons. Featured pictures are the finest images on Wikimedia Commons and are selected by consensus on Commons:Featured picture candidates. Pictures of the day should be selected from images that were strongly supported during the nomination process. For instructions on how to add a Picture of the Day, see Commons:Picture of the day/Instructions.

There are so many ways you can make use of the latest POTD in Wikipedia content, and even more ways to get your daily does. You can subscribe to get a daily email of the latest POTD and also make use of its RSS feed that… well can do so many things (I could easily set up an integration say through Zapier to have them posted here, does anyone want that?)

Likely built from this RSS feed, I first noticed it from a Mastodon bot account that posts them … in french. But from there I found another bot that you can follow (I do now) in English https://mastodon.bot/@cpod. There very likely are bot accounts that do this in The Platform I will Only Call Twitter (!), Bliuesky, Threads, heck likely many more.

This was the stunning photo that caught my attention this week- it has so many elements of good composition. Good luck generating this

If you would like a daily small dose of inspiring visual creativity, sign up or link to or get your feed reader pointed at the POTD.
