Make a Remixed Movie Poster for Something Open Education Related

I was fortunate today to be in an online conversation with my friend/collague Terry Greene @greeneterry from Trent University. He’s running a fun looking event tomorrowI would recommend

Terry showed a photo of a poster series his team designed and had printed to support this session, they are near the Trent University Library (I think). I hope you share some photos Terry.

But he also mentioned a series that had done before and hung in the same location (by students? By education designers) as posters for online courses designed to look like movie posters, for example:

Coop 2000 movie poster featuring a group of young explores sitting on a rocky perch looking at distant alipine mountains
See the series of 7 movie posters, nicely displayed with H5P

I’m a fan of making this posters by mimic-ing the design style of real movie posters. It was something Terry knows well from the old days of participating in DS106.

If anyone is game for a creative challenge, create a poster like graphic to advertise your open course, textbook, tool, etc and share here. Heck, even if you resort to GenAI, I’m game to see what you come up with.

It reminds me too of that phase quite a while back when educators would create course “trailers”, videos to advertise a course in the style of movie trailers. See some examples from Southwestern University, from University of Saskatchewan, Harvard University

Does anyone still do that? Share please.

Thanks for sharing all this, Alan! I am working on a critical thinking course right now and the faculty would like a poster and a trailer so I will share those when they are ready!

Oh great, if I can goad you into doing some old school remixes, my work is done here.
