OER26 - Final Call for Proposals

Hi all! We are looking forward to welcoming you to The Open University in June for OER26!

Please be advised that the deadline for proposals is Monday 13th April 2026.

To support participation, we have created a short guide to accommodation, transport and dining in Milton Keynes which you can find at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BtotGwTDFp7nXdtxI-Uet4xXXIwuDH2JxUjrhPMPK7E/edit?usp=sharing.

Some highlights below…

Who are the keynote speakers? On Day 1, Prof. Eileen Scanlon (Institute of Educational Technology, The Open University UK) will reflect on more than five decades spent progressing education and research at The Open University. On Day 2 Prof. Dr. Olaf Zawacki-Richter (University of Oldenburg, Germany) will share insights on the future of Open, Distance, and Digital Education (ODDE).

What is on the programme? There will be a packed schedule of expert presenters from around the world (including GO-GN researchers). We’re also planning some great activities, including a celebration of the 20th anniversary of OpenLearn; a tour of the cutting edge XR Studios; panels to look back on the history of OER and openness and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Journal of Interactive Media in Education; research funding workshops, and more!

What’s on when I’m in town? Visit the National Museum of Computing and Bletchley Park; go to the Midsummer Festival; visit MK Gallery or the National Film and Sci-Fi Museum; sail the Electra MK Community Boat; see Destination MK for more!

Best,

Rob

Not to mention the famous roundabouts, I found them fascinating especially as I was not behind the wheel. Watch out for them
