My gosh how did it already get to be the end of February?
That means that Open Education Week is just days away. Of course it has actually been in motion as the Events Calendar has shared and is sharing activities taking place from February 1 to the end of April (already 217 events added and they keep coming in).
Note a small change we made this year. The main calendar includes events scheduled at a specific time and date- think of these as ones you might want to add to your personal calendar (and you can, there is a button that does that on each event).
We introduced the idea of “campaigns” or ongoing activities that span over a week, a month, or more-- we separated them as they tended to make the scheduled events harder to find. These include ones like:
- The annual TU Delft Open Photo Competition (aka We Like Sharing)
- El reto REA: el enigma del saber (The OER challenge: the enigma of knowledge) from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid
- Sharing… Our challenges for 2026 - a multi-lingual blog series for the month of March from the UNESCO RELIA Chair
You can do these anytime.
Keep your eye out for our group of OEWeek Ambassadors we have recruited to fan out around the world and attend your events.
But there’s more! Open Education Week is more than events. We always seek to gather the Open Assets or OERs of current interest through a few different channels (this is its own posts).
And we will be publishing regular activities you can do any time here in OEG Connect on the Do OE Week Activities space. Maybe it will be a call to do remixes. Maybe it is sharing pet photos. Maybe it is sharing recipes. I have tons of ideas.
But they do not have to come from us- anyone with an OEG Connect account can post their own activity, challenge, question, topic.
I hope we can make this space come alive during Open Education Week.
