OEWeek Update: New for OEWeek 2026 Calendar: Events, Campaigns, More

We are just ramping up the social media and announcement machines for next week, but as posted Wednesday we have already opened the Open Education Week site for those ready to start sharing their events. For those that run event calendars, it seems that it’s information, data that ought to be well structured– title, link, description, start and end time etc, should be easy to manage.

Hi Alan,

Thank you for promoting the OE Week and your specific website: https://oeweek.oeglobal.org/

A question: I wanted to reuse the image https://oeweek.oeglobal.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/OEWeek26-Banner-1536x501.png but it has no CC license on it.

Could you please add one to it and also possibly to the post card: https://oeweek.oeglobal.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/oeweek-2026-Postcard.png ?

Looking forward to your answer,

Thanks!

Hi Barbara, thanks for organizing your own materials for Open Education Week, we always appreciate what you contribute.

CC licenses do not require that attribution is embedded into images but you are welcome add it to a copy of the imagery if it aligns with your content style.

All of the images for OEWeek are attributed in the OEweek Visuals Kit where the license is specified with an attribution statement, I just added to the page for the visuals kit a copy paste version that can be used in web pages.

The digital postcard image is created with a template at the Fabulous Remixer Machine which generates its own attribution statement. You are very much welcome to create your own postcard specific to your activities.

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your prompt reply and for highlighting the OEweek Visuals Kit (this is information I missed somehow, sorry).

A follow-up question: the format .png is not easy to adapt. Any possibility for you to provide these in .svg format?

Thanks and best

Hi Barbara, I believe we can provide .svg formats for the graphics, they are organized in Figma which offers that as an export. I will be asking our designer @Mario about this.

I am curious about

Meaning to use in a vector format editing program? I thought PNG was a widely supported standard file format. Or is it because the PNG format is a flattened graphic. This is purely for my own knowledge sake, as my graphic skills are mostly messing around in Photoshop.

Thanks Alan.

The idea is indeed to edit the .svg file with Inkscape to customise it a bit. Hope it answers your question!

Best

Hello Barbara, I’ve added the svg for most of the images. You can look in the shared folder for the specific design in svg format.

If there is a specific image that’s not in that folder, let us know.

This is why I call @mario “Super Mario”. There is a wide variety of new images available too, especially for socials in banner, square, and reel aspect ratios that can be used/customized as needed.

Plus a new flyer that is available too as PDF

There are more than 60 files available in the kit, download them all or pick and choose.
