Preview of Documentary on the Internet Archive and Brewster Kahle

Spotted this in the social streams:

[For] this National Library Week, get an early look at an upcoming documentary from Structure Films about the Internet Archive and its founder, @brewsterkahle.

The film follows Brewster’s battle to protect public access to knowledge and defend digital freedom—a fight that could shape the future of the internet.

A man walking through a dimly-lit storage space. The corridor is flanked by large, light blue metal containers, each secured with latches..

Kahle humbly describes himself as a “digital librarian” at the Internet Archive.

I am Brewster [Kahle] digital librarian here at the Internet Archive. The idea is to build something completely wonderful, to build a library of… oh, uh, everything.

In the 1990s, I wanted to do something that’s positive with technology. Imagine a world where every word ever written, every picture ever painted, and every film ever shot could be viewed instantly in your home. Well, it’s not as far Fetched as it may seem. How do you make that power available to lots and lots of people? That’s where the internet comes in.

Enjoy this preview of what is to be a full length documentary

Hopefully motivating!

Thanks for sharing, @cogdog – and whoa, 2 years to go!

Exciting movie. The preview has a lot of good footage, including the tour of their headquarters in San Francisco – they do this every Friday, and it’s pretty cool. I highly recommended to all library & open education nerds who happen to be in the Bay Area.

Want to hang out with Brewster and other lovely folks who work there? You totally can!
