CCCOER has been participating in Open Education week for years, and we have archives on our website going back to 2014! Below is a rundown of what we have done in the past - since 2014 we have held a total of 25 OE Week webinars! Go big or go home, I guess.

2014
Community College OER Showcases

CCCOER held 3 webinars featuring innovative community college OER projects from Washington, Oregon, Arizona, California, and Virginia. You can check out the archives to hear from faculty, librarians, program managers, deans, and curriculum developers involved in college-wide, district-wide, and state-wide projects to support the adoption of OER and open textbooks to expand access and enhance teaching and learning.

OER Adoption to Scale – Highlights from 4 States

A panel of OER college leaders from Arizona, California, Virginia, and Washington states shared how they grew their OER projects into successful multi-disciplinary programs with full OER degree pathways. Watch the archive to hear about lessons learned from building OER teams of faculty, staff, and students to expand access and improve learning outcomes.

2016
OER Adoption – Student Voices Panel and Campus Faculty Development

This webinar highlighted successful OER adoption at colleges through structured, public student-faculty dialogues on costs of textbooks and a campus-wide faculty development effort to create awareness of existing open educational resources.

2017
Expanding OER Adoption in Michigan, Oregon, & California

Hear from two OER librarians and a faculty member who are successfully growing awareness and adoption of open educational resources. They share the successes and challenges of coordinating statewide efforts and influencing their colleagues to adopt OER in their courses.

OER Degrees Emerge in Maryland & Texas

Achieving the Dream launched an OER Degree Initiative in 2016 with 38 colleges in 13 states who were tassel with developing entire degree pathways where traditional textbooks have been replaced with open educational resources. Austin Community College and Montgomery Community College are two of the colleges that participated in this transformation to enhance teaching and learning and share research on the impact on student success and cost.

Ten OER Degree and Adoption Showcases

Check out our OE Week Tour de Force from TEN COMMUNITY COLLEGES in SEVEN STATES who have developed OER Degree or OER Adoption Programs that have significantly impacted their students’ access to instructional materials and given faculty the freedom to customize their instructional materials to better meet the needs of their students.
