Wikipedia at 25

January 15 is a big day for openness as it is the 25th anniversary of the founding of Wikipedia otherwise known as Wikipedia Day.

There was about 10 minutes of random info and messages and trivia about Wikipedia including info about a new mascot and also a campaign of birthday “east eggs” that will show up starting in mid February. You can scrub the YouTub time frame to catch the opening welcome by Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales (yep he absolutely has a page)

Followed by event host Natalia who share more fun facts and insights into WIkipedia, and also as she quizzed Jimmy Wales on facts.

It was my first time hearing of the buttered cat paradox.

Even watching the live stream again, there’s so much joy in the live chat, including an open call to upload to Wikimedia Commons photos of cakes decorated to celebrate the anniversary.
