Behold! Welcome the New Members of OEG Connect

It’s been a few weeks since we issued a hello message (now tagged hello) to people who newly joined this community space. There have been quite a few in the last few weeks. Some with interest in the OE Global 2024 conference (there will be ways to participate from here whether you can go to the conference or not, start exploring) and more too with the announcements on the Open Education Awards for Excellence.

And more just come here for other reasons – for all new people who have signed up here, we hope you might reply with a hello and share your interests or what you would like to find here.

So now, we say hello and welcome to @21ha, @amitpatnaik, @AspiringAIdeveloper, @crossw, @danson, @ddutra, @Dleek1, @hardiktiwari, @Harshitkaur.01, @ILOVENEMO, @iramadan, @Jean, @JessGeorge, @jkbludwigs, @kathcobcroft, @KishaTracy, @konzc, @MengChengKo, @merling, @mjurd, @MohmadSharifJamali, @Moji, @mpieper, @Mquneiza, @mscarnecchia, @rid, @sage_apac, @Scayo, @SCG123, @Siddahant, @Sine, @suman.laudari1, @txwes, @yamazato, @Wilguens

As I enjoy the rich surprises and richness of public domain images, welcome to a place we hope you see as a “big gem” and make use of.

Hello all! I’ve recently joined OE Global, after starting a new role with responsibility for Open Education Librarians here at Deakin University, Australia. I’m very much on a learning journey with OE and am looking forward to connecting with you through this group and - hopefully - seeing some of you in person at OE Global in November.

Hello and welcome Danielle, it is wonderful to have a voice from Deakin here in the community. I hope you are comfortable jumping in with questions, comments.

And congratulations on the new role, there are many other Open Education Librarians here. What is on your plate in this new role? What is the perception / interest of open education at Deakin?

And indeed, we are eager to say hello in person in Brisbane.

Thanks Alan!

Open Education is gaining momentum here at Deakin. In the past 12-18 months, we’ve been able to get open education into our university’s strategic education planning, based on the criticality of open education to student success and equity. We’ve also been working towards a more planned and targeted approach to open educational resources and building capability in our people identify and implement OE opportunities.

Very excited to have a few representatives presenting on what’s happening at Deakin at Brisbane this year; I’ll be sitting back and taking it all in.
