Introducing LibreTexts Forge, a New Innovation in Open Pedagogy

Greetings, Open Advocates,

This message is cross-posted:

We are excited to announce LibreTexts latest innovation in our greater LibreVerse of technologies, the Forge, is officially here. The Forge is an assignment platform specifically built to advance Open Pedagogy and provide actionable insights through integrated analytics. The platform enables instructors to design renewable, collaborative long-form assignments and gives students meaningful opportunities to produce public-facing, openly licensed work. Seamlessly aligned with the values of Open Education, the Forge supports a learner-centered, participatory approach that scales across class sizes and disciplines.

Hi Jennifer, thanks for sharing the news of The Forge- I slid an image in to your post and tagged it featured to put it the front page rotation here.

There’s quite a bit to learn about the Forge (as I read through all in the detailed blog post).

What is the route to become among the “LibreTexts verified instructors” who can access The Forge? is it anyone that can authenticate through a campus login to LibreOne?

I hope other folks here are as curious as me to learn more. You can expect me coming knocking at your email door to ask for a demo session for us.

Hi Alan!

Thanks for the questions. Anyone affiliated with an institution of higher ed, or K-12, can request a free instructor account by visiting: https://register.libretexts.org. It takes only minutes to request your account, and can be coupled with the SSO from your institution.

We will also be featuring the Forge during this year’s LibreFest workshop, to be hosted virtually the week of July 7-11. Registration for LibreFest is underway and can be found here: LibreCommons. There is a small fee for non-LibreNet member campuses ($50), and if you don’t already have an account, you will be prompted to create one during the registration process. And if you are affiliated with a LibreNet campus, please reach out directly to me to obtain the fee waiver code: jrogers@libretexts.org.

There’s always something new to learn with LibreTexts!

Thanks again for your interest!

Jennifer
