We are putting out the call for open educators across the regions covered for Day 1 Middle East, Asia, and Oceania to share a digital postcard remixed to show what open education looks like in this part of the world.
Once published to the postcard site, you can share and download an image of your postcard. Reply to this post and share you postcard… and in a reply you can add much more information than will fit on the card.
Created in 2004 by publisher Pratham Books, Storyweaver’s mission of “a book in every child’s hand” to learn reading in their own language, driven by the vast array of languages spoken in India. But their reach and platform that enables stories to be translated goes far beyond India.
I was excited to see Storyweaver win a 2023 Open Education Award for Excellence as an Open Repository. And I was fortunate to record an OEGlobal Voices podcast with Storyweaver’s Purvi Shah that sheds more light on what an excellent, award worthy example of openness.
I had asked Purvi to read a segment from one of her favorite stories. What an amazing bit of serendipty that the one she chose, What Will Today Bring? was written by OEGlobal colleague Chrissi Nerantzi !
At Almayzab Digital Library, we believe that knowledge is a right—not a privilege. Our commitment to open education stems from a vision to empower faculty, researchers, and students across Sudan with free access to academic resources. We aim to build a fair, digital, and inclusive learning environment that strengthens scientific research and promotes knowledge equity in our country.
We appreciate the enthusiasm and early sharing from the Almayzab Digital Library- Join the live sessions on October 14 to hear their Snapshot talk.
I am already curious to know what their most requested / useful open resources are? Who in Sudan (or beyond) is making use of this open resource? What other kinds of resources would they like to have in the library?
RSNA (Radiological Society of North America) learning resources
TheLearnBook platform for interactive academic content
Main users:
University faculty and postgraduate students across Sudan
Researchers in public institutions
Independent learners and diaspora scholars
The library is openly accessible to all Sudanese, both inside the country and abroad
Access infrastructure and capacity building:
We are proud to offer secure and seamless access to global academic resources through OpenAthens, enabling authenticated use across institutions.
In addition, we have delivered a wide range of training programs focused on academic capacity building, empowering researchers and students to effectively use open educational resources and digital platforms.
We are also grateful to have benefited from a dedicated open education lecture delivered to our team by Dr. Fawzi Baroud, UNESCO Chair on OER and panelist in this OEGlobal session. His insights helped shape our strategic direction and deepen our understanding of global OER practices.
I’m delighted to share my Digital Postcard for the OEGlobal Tour 2025!
Open education has always inspired me — it’s about sharing, connecting, and empowering learners everywhere.
This postcard represents my recent work with students exploring open learning and creativity.
Warm greetings from Thailand! — Apirada Chinprateep
