In a recent webinar discussion my colleague and relative geographic neighbor @hmross shared the AI Literacy Framework created at the University of Saskatchewan
How about sharing what efforts like this are going on at your organization?
I also suggest for those looking at course policies to see the extensive collection of AI syllabi collected by Lance Eaton (now at 184 of them in the spreadsheet)
Please share anything relevant happening where you are… and note for @lightweight this is sharing what colleagues are doing to address the flood of AI, this is not AI boosterism!
Thanks @cogdog, I think they must have just been upgrading the platform we use for https://ailiteracy.fyi when you tried to visit. It should be working now!
I’m no “guru” but I do have a professional interest in new literacies. There’s a lot of snake oil about, and I think it’s easy for people to become cynical and disillusioned about the plethora of frameworks out there.
There is the inevitable jockeying for position, with the idea that there’s a single framework to die them all. As with my work around digital literacies, what in interested in are the principles and values behind these frameworks - the “essential elements”, if you will.
So I’d welcome a discussion about more philosophical issues, and to channel my inner Haruki Murakami, ask “what do we talk about when we talk about AI Literacy frameworks?”
What assumptions are we making? What’s going on behind the scenes? What contexts are relevant?
In a shameless plug, I discussed some of these things with the large-brained @helen.beetham a while back and OE Global community members might find the conversation interesting
I am guessing University of Saskatchewan course on AI Literacy is restricted to people at the university. I just tried to create an account, and it did not let me sign up. I will ask my colleague @hmross to confirm.
I can see others that are listed as free:
Destination AI from Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR)
Experience AI from Google Deep Mind “an educational programme that offers cutting-edge resources on artificial intelligence and machine learning for teachers and students aged 11–14”
I am sure there are many more out there- that’s for others to step in and reply!
