I join in congratulating @igorlesko on his PhD. Congrats on this big accomplishment, years in the making.

I, and my partner Carolyn, had the good fortune to attend his PhD defense in person at the Open Universiteit Nederland in Heerlen. It was my first time attending such an event. It’s worth acknowledging the thesis itself Prepare for the Long Run. Strategies for Affecting Governmental OER Policy Developments by International Organisations is very good and offers some really helpful conceptual frameworks for thinking about policy and specific policy instruments. All very useful for those involved in drafting open education policy. I enjoyed the entire process including the numerous questions Igor had to answer in defense of his thesis.

It was wonderful to see Igor in person along with other open education leaders including @OpenRobert55 @benjpjanssen @bdelosarcos and others.

It was a special treat to visit with @igorlesko and @GinoFransman one evening, enjoying one of Ginos delicious meals at their AirBnB castle in the countryside. I especially enjoyed meeting Igors mother, acting as courier of gifts to Igor from others, and seeing the joy of completion.

It was an honour to be invited and can’t wait to see how this achievement fuels Igors continued work.

What an honor Paul that you and Carolyn were there in person, that’s a statement unto itself.

Thanks for sharing the link to DR LESKO’s dissertation, I am gently applying pressure to @igorlesko to share his research work with the community.

Indeed…
