Monday Connect: Share what you find on a random trip with Wikivoyage

Everyone knows of Wikipedia, but how often do you make use of the other arms of the Wikimedia Foundation projects that utilize the same wiki platform? From Dictionary to Quotes to Species to its free library (and more).

For this monday-connect let’s see the world via Wikivoyage, the open travel guide.

One feature of all Wiki________ projects is each offers a way to explore via a random link. Take a random Wikivoyage and see where in the world you end up. Learn something interesting about the place, and share the link and maybe a photo of the place in your reply.

And another feature is that all Wiki projects have links you can specify for different languages.

Well someone has to try this out, and it might as well be me.

My random Wikivoyage link took me to Cintsa on the East, or as the page hierarchy suggests, Wild coast of South Africa. It looks wild in the photo…

Cintsa is described as “a backpackers magnet and offers nice beaches and two excellent hostels” and also “This small village requires nothing but your feet.” The beaches are described as long and the one restaurant listed is Monsters Family Restaurant.

There, I randomly traveled to a remote village in Africa. Maybe some of my colleagues from there (or anyone else who might read this) @Weblearning @IslaHF @igorlesko @GinoFransman @Glencox can tell us more about Cintsa.

Otherwise, take your own random Wikivoyage trip and share where you traveled to.
