Spotted in the News: Session from Nelson Mandela University on Multilingual Pharmacology Glossary OER

My Google Alerts are tuned in well! I got a notice for this article from Nelson Mandela University about one of the conference sessions – When the language of learning becomes a language of belonging

“What if the language that helps a student understand a concept could also be the language that helps them feel that they belong?”

It is a deceptively simple question — and one that is taking a team from Nelson Mandela University to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in October.

Doina Naude, Clinical Training Coordinator in the Pharmacy Department, Pharmacy lecturer Janet Barry and Gino Fransman, Academic Developer in LT Collab, will represent Mandela University at OEGlobal (Open Education) 2026.

Here they will share their work on a multilingual pharmacology glossary designed to make specialised knowledge more accessible to students.

Indeed this is the session scheduled for Thursday Oct 8 as a hybrid presentation

I cannot watch as I have tasked with facilitating another session at this time, so maybe someone else can share some notes here? Or at least start some conversations with presenters Doina Naude, Janet Barry @jbarry and Gino Fransman @GinoFransman
